Can you sing?

You can sing
I don’t mind
But I’m not musically inclined

You enjoy singing
But I got to plug my ears
For your voice sounds like a record with peanut butter smears

Reb Hillel of Paritch[1] used to say
If you’re not musically inclined
A vort Chassidus will bounce right off your mind[2]

Why is that, you might ask
One is about the brain
And one is just a tune?
I hear your claim
Yet we do see, many that have a fine noodle
When it comes to these books
Their like a little poodle

On the 19th of Kislev we are blessed with a great Chassidic year[3]
What does that mean?
To me it would seem
That we are blessed with the ability to tune in
With this we might begin
To get the spin
And be in the in
To not fall flat on our chin
Or to fall in the trash bin
L’Chaim!

[1] Rabbi Hillel of Paritsh (1795-1864) was a chassid of the Mitler Rebbe and the Tzemach Tzedek.  Chassidim used to say he was ‘half a Rebbe’ in his own right.  He served as Rabbi of Bobruisk for many years, and authored Pelech HaRimon, a work of deep Chassidic thought.
[2] There are two versions of this thought see Sefer Hasichos 5697 p. 221.
