Fear is like a rocking chair
Both go back and forth
Yet get you no where[1]
“Fear makes you weak[2]”
And you often look like a geek
“Throw you worries onto G-d[3]”
And He will throw you a strong rod
Iyov said[4]
“What you fear will come upon you”
So ask G-d to help you not have fear
And to Him you will become more near
Fear not a bear
You can drink a beer
Or throw a spear
Oh and don’t forget G-d we must fear[5]
[1] I
heard this from a close friend, the Rebbe once said a similar statement (not in
the context of fear), (Lekutei Sichos Vol. 2 p. 368): “There is a saying
that a clock goes back and forth yet gets nowhere”.
[2] Talmud
Gitin 67b based on a verse in Tehilim 38:11
[3]
Tehilim 55:23
[4] 3:25
[5] As
the posuk says (Mishlei 28:14): “praise is the man who is always
afraid”.
